Job Title: Project Engagement Manager

Location: Phoenix, AZ – Hybrid (on-site at least 3 days/week)

Employment Type: Contract-to-hire

 

This role sits at the intersection of executive strategy and hands-on delivery. You will shape investment proposals for senior leadership and personally lead a small portfolio of high-impact initiatives sponsored by the CIO. The focus is on turning complex technology needs into clear business cases and then ensuring the approved work actually delivers what was promised.

 

Your role:

·     Translate technical initiatives into concise business cases that clearly outline value, cost, risk, and alignment with enterprise priorities.

·     Build executive-level proposal and presentation materials that clearly articulate the recommendation, investment ask, and expected outcomes.

·     Maintain visibility into upcoming initiatives, tracking demand and ensuring proposals are fully prepared for leadership review.

·     Directly lead a limited number of CIO-sponsored projects that fall outside standard delivery models.

·     Drive execution without disrupting day-to-day operational or project delivery capacity across IT teams.

·     Step in quickly to manage urgent, executive-level initiatives that require focused leadership and rapid course correction.

·     Track post-approval progress and outcomes to confirm approved initiatives deliver the expected benefits and results.

 

What you’ve got:

·     Strong executive-level communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas clearly and confidently to senior leaders.

·     Proven experience developing business cases, investment proposals, or strategic presentations for executive decision-making.

·     Solid financial acumen, including comfort with capital investments, operating expenses, and long-term cost implications.

·     Hands-on project leadership experience, particularly with high-visibility or non-standard initiatives.

·     Ability to operate independently, prioritize competing demands, and maintain momentum in fast-moving environments.

·     Preferred: background partnering closely with CIOs, technology leaders, or enterprise governance bodies on strategic initiatives.
