Title: Data Visualization Specialist

Location: Tempe, AZ

Type: 1-yr Contract

Compensation: $60-69/hr

This role focuses on transforming legacy reporting into modern, interactive data solutions using Power BI. You will convert existing reports into scalable, user-friendly dashboards and reporting tools while ensuring data accuracy and alignment with business needs. The position combines technical development, data validation, and collaboration with stakeholders to improve reporting capabilities.

Your role:

·     Rebuild legacy SSRS reports into Power BI paginated reports while maintaining accuracy and performance.

·     Convert select reports into interactive dashboards that support data exploration and clear insights.

·     Verify data consistency by comparing outputs between new reports and legacy systems.

·     Partner with analysts and data owners to confirm calculations, definitions, and reporting requirements.

·     Apply Power BI best practices including data modeling, security controls, parameterization, and performance tuning.

·     Document report structures, data sources, and transformation logic for ongoing support and usability.

·     Provide guidance and training to internal users on new reporting tools and dashboards.

What you’ve got:

·     Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent hands-on experience.

·     Experience working with both SSRS and Power BI in a reporting or analytics capacity.

·     Strong background in building paginated reports and converting legacy reporting solutions.

·     Ability to design and deliver interactive dashboards that support business decision-making.

·     Solid SQL skills with experience writing and optimizing queries.

·     Working knowledge of DAX, Power Query, and data modeling within Power BI.

·     Experience interpreting existing reports and translating them into modern solutions.

·     Strong communication skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams.

Preferred:

·     Experience with Power BI Premium or Fabric environments.

·     Familiarity with shared datasets and semantic models.

·     Understanding of data security practices such as row-level security.

·     Exposure to Agile workflows or tools such as Azure DevOps.
